About Here and Me

This is the website of a Canadian developer who goes by the nickname TreGe online (hence the URL you’re visiting). It may not be the most original name for a website, but as the first domain I ever registered all those years ago it holds a special place in my heart.

This isn’t the first iteration of this website. Starting as some hard-coded HTML back in the early noughties (that’s the period between 2000 and 2010, for those uninitiated), to the WordPress deployment that I have now (2023, as of the time of writing). I’ve gone through a basic Javascript page, though my own PHP-based page, running Joomla, or basically any other CMS you can imagine. This isn’t likely to be the last iteration, but since university is many years behind me now, I suspect I will have less time to faff about compared to years yonder.

I’ve worked across industries, and at every level. I coded tests in Quick Test Pro and VB Script. I spent many years in Java, and many others in C, C++, and Python. I’ve worked in support, as a senior developer, and managed teams. I’ve worked at a variety of places including investment banks, startups, and telecom companies. I’ve done everything from embedded BSP (Board support packages). to analyzing data using Jupyter (and the complimentary pandas, numpy, and plotly packages). Devops, and metrics were necessary stops along the way (thank Moore’s Law for Docker, and all the Grafana offerings). I’ve even done a bit of that “full stack” thing that kids love these days.

I won’t update this site very often. I can promise that much. This is just a useful place that I can use to plant a flag. A place nicer to look at than a 404-page when someone forgets to apply the correct subdomain when browsing around the services I’m running. Services via docker, kubernetes, and the collection of little nodes I’m running just a few feet away from me.

If passion strikes, I may write a few articles about what I’m doing, and if whatever my current NDA, non-compete, or whatever other contract I might be bound by allows.

If you’re seeing this, then you’re talking to a small little container on a VPS that I set up in order to host my little home on the internet. Please be kind to it. It only has 1 core, and a few GB of memory. It would very much appreciate you being gentle to it.

Anyway, I’m all out of time today to update this page. I hope you find what you’re looking for, and have an awesome day. Thank you for taking a few moments to listen to me ramble. I might not know, but I still appreciate it.

~TreGe
